About Us

DRBU Extension aims to activate the inherent wisdom and compassion possessed by every individual through three mutually supportive practices: a virtuous life, meditative concentration, and wise discernment.  Our programs are based on classical Buddhist texts, which have guided practitioners throughout the millennia, as well as the Buddhist community of monks and nuns, which provides an optimal environment for awakening. DRBU Extension also brings Buddhism into dialogue with contemporary thoughtways such as philosophy, psychology, science, technology, and education.  Insights uncovered through the process of study and practice inform not only students’ relationships with themselves, but with others and the world as a whole.

Dharma Realm Buddhist University

Classical learning for a contemporary world... Dharma Realm Buddhist University is a small private school dedicated to liberal education in the broad Buddhist tradition—a tradition characterized by knowledge in the arts and sciences, self-cultivation, and the pursuit of wisdom. Know yourself; know the world. These are the enduring hallmarks of an educated person, both East and West, and the essence of the DRBU experience.

Completion of DRBU Extension programs does not confer any formal academic or vocational degree of certificate. Completion of any course in the program does not confer any transferable unit. Please refer to DRBU's Academic website  for information about DRBU's academic programs.

City of Ten Thousand Buddhas

Named “a sacred site” by National Geographic, The City of Ten Thousand Buddhas is nestled within 700 acres of orchards, meadows, and woods in Mendocino County, California, just 110 miles north of San Francisco. In addition to being the home of Buddhist monks and nuns, CTTB also houses a K-12 school and an organic farm. The quiet countryside landscape and clean air of the beautiful Ukiah Valley provide an ideal environment for study, wholesome fellowship, and spiritual growth.

Sudhana Center

Sudhana Center is a DRBU campus in downtown Ukiah, CA. It offers extension classes, short-term classes, summer programs, lecture series, and academic conferences.
