Summer Guan Yin Recitation Retreat
July 8 - 16, 2017 [registration closed] November 4 - 12, 2017 Transform anger, delusion, and distractions into compassion, wisdom, and focus in a 7-day retreat dedicated to the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion. This retreat includes: Contemplative practices of meditation and recitation that help us reflect inward; the Buddha’s teachings of wisdom that give guidance and direction; and a dedicated community of practitioners that provide inspiration and support. By returning to the source of wisdom and compassion within us, we can find an inner ground of stability that allows us to be of greater service to others and the world as a whole. |
Retreat Details
Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva (or simply “Guan Yin”) is considered an embodiment of Great Compassion. Her name literally means "She who Hears the Cries of the World." As a Bodhisattva dedicated to the welfare of all beings, she listens deeply to each of our sounds and responds accordingly. By reciting her name, we tap our own inherent capacity for kindness and compassion. By quieting our minds, we begin to hear our own inner sounds with a caring and open heart. Come join us for one week of intensive recitation and meditation practice in a monastic environment. The daily schedule consists of chanting, walking, bowing, and sitting meditation, as well as discussions and lectures to explain the practice.
Participants of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply! Retreat fees: $200* * We are committed to making sure that finance is not an obstacle in attending the retreat.
